First Visit

If, at the first visit, there is a dental condition that is of an emergency nature then we will treat this first and then schedule an appointment for a complete examination.

If no dental emergency is present then we will perform a complete dental examination at the first visit. During this examination the medical and dental histories will be reviewed, some dental record will be taken (Xrays, intraoral photographs, dental models, etc) if deemed necessary, and complete clinical examination will be performed.

After this examination, a comprehensive dental treatment plan will be presented to you. Together with the dentist you will choose the treatment that you think is most suitable for your dental needs. The treatment plan that you will choose will form the basis for subsequent appointments.

If you have any particular concerns or fears, please tell us about them.

Please assist us at the time of your initial visit to the office by providing the following information:

  • Your dental insurance claim form, insurance identification numbers, and benefits book, if applicable.

  • If applicable, the dental records from the previous dentist (X-rays, dental notes). To expedite the process you can fill the form of X-Rays release and fax it to your dentist before your first appointment. Allow them at least 5 business days to send the X-Rays (unless it is a fully computerized office in which case it should take about 15 minutes).

  • A list of medications you are currently taking.

  • Please notify the office if you have a medical condition or concern (e.g. artificial heart valves or joints, heart murmurs requiring pre-medication, prosthetic implants, severe diabetes or hypertension, etc) as these conditions can impact on the dental treatment.

  • If you want to expedite the first visit you can print and fill the:

Scheduling

We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. If you have pain or an emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you that day.

We try to stay on schedule to minimize waiting at the time of your appointment. Emergency patients can cause delays to the schedule, and your understanding and patience are very much appreciated.

Insurance

We will gladly file your claims on your behalf and we process almost all insurance claims ELECTRONICALLY! This means no paperwork for patients.

We can provide estimates for all services provided and information about coverage for such procedures from your insurance before treatment is completed.

In terms of billing, we are using the current Ontario Dental Association (ODA) fee guide.

We accept cash, debit and all major credit cards.

Our insurance coordinator deals with many different insurance companies. Some companies offer many different dental and medical plans. These companies can change benefits, co-pays and deductibles many times throughout the year. We do our best to provide you with accurate coverage estimates based on information available to us. At times, it is almost impossible to accurately estimate our patients' insurance co-payment. Many insurance companies will not give out fees until after the treatment is completed. Dealing with these companies can be difficult and time consuming. As a courtesy, we ask that you keep us informed of any change to your insurance. It is important that all information about you and your insurance is current.

Financial Policy

Most dental insurance policies are limited and often only pay for a portion of the procedure(s) that may need to be done. You are responsible for paying the difference when the treatment is rendered.

Emergency/Single Visit Payments

For single-visit procedures, our policy is that payment is due in full at the time of service. For your convenience we accept cash, checks, money orders and credit card payment (Visa, Debit and Master Card).

Please call if you have any questions or concerns regarding your initial visit.
